
Anna Barney

Anna Barney was awarded a BSc in Physics an MSc in Electronics and, in 1995, a PhD in Speech Acoustics all at the University of Southampton, UK. She was appointed as a lecturer in 1998 and promoted to Professor of Biomedical Acoustic Engineering in 2014. Anna is a member of the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) and her research interests are primarily in the acoustics of speech production and in the assessment of lung sounds. She has published in the areas of fluid mechanical and acoustic modelling of the voice source in healthy and pathological speech, measurement and analysis of lung sounds, assessment of breathing patterns for disease diagnosis and monitoring and motif discovery in Alzheimer’s speech.
